oil3There are many classifications of muds or drilling fluid systems, including water-based, oil based, emulsion and air or gas-based. Oil-based drilling muds show improvements over standard water muds in the areas of increased drilling rate and bit life, reduction in hole problems, reduction in torque, less sticking of pipe, and less hole enlargement. Special emulsifiers and additives are used in these drilling fluid systems to provide a host of functions, including emulsification, oil wetting, viscosity & fluid loss controls.

PINEMUL®100

A 100% active, oil-soluble viscous liquid comprised of modified and oxidized tall oil that functions as a primary emulsifier in invert (water-in-oil) drilling fluids.  It provides good emulsification, higher electrical  stability with filtrate control properties.  Normally used at 5-7 lbs/barrel rate.  Lime is required to activate.

PINEMUL®101

A lower viscosity liquid, 100% active material based on modified tall oil chemistry that functions as primary emulsifier in invert drilling fluids.  It provides good emulsification and higher electrical stability with some filtrate control properties.  Normally used at 5-7 lbs/barrel rate.  Lime is required to activate.

PINEMUL®102

A 100% active, oil-soluble, viscous liquid based on uniquely modified fatty acids and resins that functions as filtrate reducer in oil-based invert mud systems.  It also provides good emulsification and higher electrical stability.  Normally used at 2-4 lbs/barrel rate.  Product can be diluted with crude oil, hydrocarbon solvents or synthetic oils.

PINEMUL®200

A viscous liquid, 80-90% active modified alkyl polyamide in mineral oil that functions as emulsifier and wetting agent in oil-based drilling muds.  Normally used at a 2-4 lbs/barrel rate in combination with primary emulsifiers.  Product can be diluted with crude oil, hydrocarbon solvents or synthetic oils.

PINEMUL®201

A lower viscosity, 67-72% active modified alkyl polyamide in naphthenic oil that functions as emulsifier and wetting agent in oil-based drilling muds.  Normally used at a 3-5 lbs/barrel rate.  Product can be diluted with base fluid to make desired field strength formulation.

PINEMUL®300

A 97-100% active viscous liquid comprised of modified polyamide and tall oil that functions as emulsifier and wetting agent in oil-based drilling muds.  Provides excellent emulsification, high electrical stability and desired filtrate control.  Lime is required to activate.  Normally used at a 7-8 lbs/barrel rate.  Product can be diluted with base fluids to make desired field strength formulation.
